User Accounts

View, add, and modify a ExtremeCloud IQ user account.

About User Accounts

You assign user accounts to individual ExtremeCloud IQ users who need access to your network; typically guests, contractors, visitors, and VIPs. Collect user accounts into user groups so that you can more easily manage the access privileges.

  • Before you can create a user account, you must have an existing user group into which you put the user account. To view the existing user groups, see "User Groups". To add a new user group, see "Add User Groups".

See "Multiple User Accounts (Bulk Create)" or "Add User Groups" to add multiple users to a user account or user group.

Add a User Account to a Cloud-Based User Group

To add a user account to a cloud-based user group, perform the following steps:

Navigate to Configure > Users > User Management > Users (see "Users") and select ADD. Enter the following information and then select Save.

Create account in user group: Select a cloud-based user group.

Name: Enter the user's name. This name appears in any messages sent to the email address in the Deliver Password section. The email message, which contains login credentials and wireless connection instructions, begins with "Welcome <this_name>". When you choose Name in the User Name drop-down list, this field is required. Otherwise, it is optional and if left empty, whatever you define as the user name—email address, phone number, or other—is used in the email message. The name can contain up to 128 characters including spaces.

Organization: Enter the name of an organization for this user. For permanent users, leave this empty.

Purpose of Visit: Enter the purpose of the user's visit. For permanent users, leave this empty.

Email Address: Enter the user's email address. This is only required if you choose Email Address in the User Name drop-down list. The email address can contain up to 128 characters.

Phone Number: Enter the user's mobile phone number, including the international dialing code. This is only required if you chose Phone Number from the User Name drop-down list.

User Name: Choose an identifier from the drop-down list: Email Address (default), Name, Phone Number, or Other. If you select Other, you must enter another type of user identifier, such as Jane's iPhone, Guest, or an organization name in the field.

Password: Either enter a password, or select Generate to automatically generate a password for this user. For either method, the password must conform to the password rules configured in the associated user group (see "Add User Groups").

  • Only administrators can view and change passwords. Other ExtremeCloud IQ admin roles will not see or be able to edit this parameter. (See "Admin Accounts" for a complete description of Administrator, Operator, Monitor, Help Desk, Guest Management, and Observer roles.)

Description: Enter an option description for this user.

Select a password delivery method:
