Extreme Outdoor-Rated AP1130 Dual-Band Sector Antenna Installation Guide

Read about and view specifications for the AP1130 dual-band sector antenna kit (AH-ACC-1130-ANT-SEC) in this topic. Install the access point with the antenna using this topic.

This guide explains how to install a dual-band sector antenna and connect it to AP1130 outdoor-rated access points.

Mount the Sector Antenna

You can mount the sector antenna on a vertical mast or pole and adjust the orientation for optimum radio transmission by tilting the mounting bracket. The mounting bracket accommodates poles or masts with diameters from 1.5" to 2" (40-50 mm).

To provide unobstructed RF coverage, mount the antenna in a relatively open area so that it has at least a 3' (1 m) clearance from any nearby obstructions.

Assemble the required materials and tools, read the safety and hazard warnings, and confirm that your installation site meets FCC distance requirements. You are now ready to install the antenna using the following steps.

  • The recommended torque for mounting this antenna is 50 kgf.cm (4.9N.m). The maximum torque is 60 kgf.cm (5.9N.m).

Connect the Antenna to the AP

Use the two antenna cables with N-Male connectors to connect the antenna to the AP, as shown. It is not necessary to ground the antenna.

  • You can use 2.4 GHz antennas in addition to the sector antenna. Always install a 50-Ohm load terminator on any unused antenna connectors.

Align the Antenna

Two people are required to test the elevation and alignment for maximum signal strength. While one person takes readings on an RF test meter, the second person makes adjustments as necessary by loosening the top hex nut on the mounting base to align the antenna, as shown in the following illustration.

  • To meet FCC and other country requirements, the antenna must not be elevated above the horizon. When set to the 0 degree mark on the scale the antenna should be level with the horizon. You can then angle the antenna down to obtain optimum coverage.
